The Governing Body is responsible for ensuring that the school provides the best possible quality education for the students of The Halifax Academy.

Whilst the Headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, the Governing Body is involved in developing the school’s aims and policies as well as a number of other important duties including, monitoring and evaluating the school’s effectiveness and holding the school to account for its performance.

I am happily married with two grown up children. “

Ms Surraya Bibi

"I am proud to be a part of the current composition of the Halifax Academy Governing Board. As a Lecturer in Further Education, I have a keen and personal interest in being a part of an educational establishment that promotes high standards of educational achievement. As members of the Governing Board, we pride in the shared consensus we have in helping shape the future of our children in the Academy.

The governing board’s utmost priority is ensuring that we fully support the vision of the Academy and constantly strive to improve education standards. I am sure as pupils, parents and staff at the Academy, you are aware of the ethos and mission of the Halifax Academy and it is equally of paramount importance for the governing team to make positive contributions that create strong governance. These efforts provide a solid support structure to ensure the vision and direction of the Academy remains strategically focussed.

Every individual on our governing Board brings a wealth of diversity in terms of skills and expertise and I am proud to utilise my skills as a qualified practitioner in education. It is my utmost passion and dedication to ensure the Academy retains the high profile it has achieved and that we can do more to promote the good work our staff and pupils do. Involvement in education is of high importance for me and I hope to make a positive difference through my contribution. Attainment of high standards is a principle I value and it is my hope that all pupils of the Academy are supported to achieve their potential and be able to fulfil their aspirations.

Positive actions are currently taking place in identifying the future direction of the Academy and this is a task we collectively need to work on. The addition of the new Primary building is extremely exciting and it is such a pleasure to know that the school has been responsive in meeting the demand of fulfilling the shortage of primary school places. This has resulted in the Academy becoming the first through school in Calderdale, offering high quality learning opportunities with excellent resources, supporting pupils' `learning in a stimulating and fun environment."
