MAT Consultation - Formation of a Multi-academy Trust
The Halifax Academy is an academy and is supported by The Halifax Academy Trust. It has been proposed that the academy trust will convert to a multi-academy trust (MAT), meaning that it can support more than one academy school.
The introduction of the Academies Programme by the Government has seen many schools convert to academy status and encourages collabarative working and support between schools. The Halifax Academy is already supporting local schools, for example through The Calderdale Self Improving Schools Partnership. Adopting MAT status formalises our commitment to engaging in the school to school support agenda and, in The Halifax Academy Trust’s opinion, will allow us to take advantage of the benefits available in adopting this approach, which include the sharing of staff expertise and best practice across schools to maximise impact on student achievement and the economic benefits such as centralised services e.g HR, finance and adminstration.
The Department for Education (DfE) guidance on making significant changes requires the Academy Trust to consult with key stakeholders, including the Local Authority, for a minimum of 4 weeks before submitting a business case to the Education Funding Agency (EFA). This consultation period has now ended. For further information please contact The Halifax Academy on 01422 301080.
